I wrote about the Super Intelligence rebrand as a branding story, not a technical one. SEO is the one exception. Whatever the White House calls the models, the surfaces where people actually search, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Mode, keep shipping real ranking changes every quarter. If you run a brand, a site, or a startup, that's the part worth your attention, not the name on the press release.
This is the practical version: what to learn, what to build, how to track it, and which tools I actually use across tipidnation.com, europricedrop.com, and aipriceradar.com.
The terminology you actually need to know
SEO conversations picked up five new acronyms in the last two years. You don't need all five equally, but you need to know what each one is actually optimizing for.
| Term | Stands for | What it optimizes |
|---|---|---|
| SEO | Search Engine Optimization | Classic rankings, blue links, organic clicks |
| GEO | Generative Engine Optimization | Being cited inside ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other generative answers |
| AIO | AI Overview Optimization | Getting pulled into Google's AI Overview box specifically |
| AEO | Answer Engine Optimization | Direct-answer formatting for voice and snippet-style queries |
| LLMO | LLM Optimization | Structuring content so any language model parses and trusts it cleanly |
I already broke the overlap and the exact checklist down in the pre-launch SEO/AIO/GEO/AEO/SXO/LLMO checklist. Short version: they're not five separate jobs. They're one job, structured content, verified entity, fast crawl, measured five different ways depending on which surface you're checking.
Classic SEO weighted backlink volume heavily. GEO ranking studies in 2026 show authority, being verified by sources the model already trusts, as the primary factor for Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, ahead of keyword density or raw link count. A single citation from a source the model trusts can outweigh a dozen low-authority backlinks.
What to learn first
- Schema markup, properly nested. Not just Article and FAQPage. Product, Organization, Person, and BreadcrumbList schema, all cross-referenced with consistent
sameAsentries. This is the foundation every other layer sits on. - Entity SEO. AI systems resolve "who is saying this" before deciding whether to trust it. A consistent name, consistent branding, and a verifiable identity across your site, socials, and third-party mentions matters more now than exact-match keywords ever did.
- Answer-first writing. Direct answer in the first two sentences, under a question-shaped heading. Still the single highest-leverage structural change across every AI surface I've tested.
- Agentic commerce basics, if you sell anything. Shopping agents inside ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity now pull from Schema.org Product markup and your Google Merchant Center feed before a human ever sees your page. Products with complete Product schema get selected by AI agents roughly 6x more often than incomplete listings.
How to execute it on a real site
I run the same five-step pass on every page before it ships, across all my sites. It's the same structure whether the page is an affiliate review or a service page.
- Answer first. Two sentences, no warm-up, directly under a question-shaped H1 or H2.
- Tables over prose for any comparison. Every AI surface I've tested extracts table rows more reliably than paragraph comparisons.
- FAQPage schema on anything with a natural question-answer shape, 4 to 6 entries, specific answers, no filler.
- Visible, accurate freshness signal. A real "updated on" date matching
dateModifiedin schema. AI systems weight recency hard on anything time-sensitive. - Internal links into a topic cluster. Isolated pages get cited less than pages linked into related content. I cover the linking mechanics in how I get AI Overviews to cite my pages.
Five shopping surfaces, ChatGPT Shopping, Perplexity's Buy with Pro, Google AI Mode, Copilot Checkout, and Alexa, now share a baseline requirement: complete Schema.org Product markup, GTIN data, and a clean Google Merchant Center feed. ChatGPT mostly discovers and redirects to your checkout. Gemini can complete a purchase in-app with Google Pay. Get the feed right once and you cover most of these surfaces at the same time.
How to track whether any of this is working
I wrote the full tracking setup already in Google AI traffic is real: how I track and optimize for it, this is the compressed version for the SI-era vocabulary specifically.
| What you're checking | Where to look | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| AI referral sessions | Custom GA4 channel group, matched on chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini.google.com | Real visits from AI surfaces, still small in volume, growing fastest of any channel |
| AI Overview impressions vs clicks | Search Console โ Search Appearance โ Generative AI | Whether Google is citing you without sending a click |
| Schema validity | Rich Results Test, Schema.org validator | Whether your FAQPage, Product, and Person markup actually parses |
| Crawl speed | IndexNow dashboard, server logs | How fast new or updated pages get picked up, covered in IndexNow vs Google Search Console |
| Agent selection rate | Merchant Center diagnostics, manual spot-checks inside ChatGPT/Gemini | Whether shopping agents are actually surfacing your products |
The tool stack
Most of the tracking layer is free. The GEO-specific layer, tools built to simulate and monitor AI citations directly, is where the paid tools live now.
| Tool | What it's for | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Google Search Console | Generative AI performance report | Free |
| Bing Webmaster Tools | Copilot AI Performance report | Free |
| GA4 | Custom AI-referral channel group | Free |
| IndexNow | Instant crawl notification | Free |
| Rich Results Test | Schema validation | Free |
| GEO monitoring tools (Promptwatch-style) | Tracks citation rate across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini simultaneously | $49โ$399/mo range |
| Google Merchant Center | Product feed for agentic shopping surfaces | Free |
I keep a running, actually-tested list of the paid layer at AI Price Radar's AI SEO deals page, real pricing, not marketing-page pricing, since I run that site myself.
What I'm doing differently because of the SI rebrand specifically
Almost nothing, and that's the point. I'm not retitling pages "SI Consultant" because search demand for that term is still near zero per the 53%-to-9% polling split I covered last week. What I am doing: watching search console query data monthly for "SI" or "super intelligence" variants creeping into real traffic. If that shifts, I'll build content around it. Right now the smart move is optimizing for the surfaces, not the slogan.
If you're running an affiliate or ecommerce site, the agentic commerce point above gets tested hard during peak shopping events. I wrote the exact six-week checklist for this year's run in Black Friday 2026 SEO prep.
Mistakes that quietly tank AI visibility
I've audited enough pages across my own sites and client work to see the same five mistakes repeat. None of them are exotic. All five are easy to fix once you know to look for them.
- Burying the answer. Three paragraphs of throat-clearing before the actual answer means most AI summarizers never reach it. Put the answer first, context after, every time.
- Inconsistent entity names. One name on the site, a slightly different one on LinkedIn, a third variant in old press mentions. Models resolve identity before they decide to trust a source, and inconsistency reads as noise.
- Schema that doesn't validate. Markup copy-pasted from a template and never run through the Rich Results Test. Broken schema is often worse than no schema, it signals a site nobody maintains.
- Treating FAQ sections as an afterthought. Generic questions with vague answers get skipped by both users and AI summarizers. Write the actual questions people ask, with specific, concrete answers.
- Ignoring the product feed. Ecommerce sites spend months on content SEO and leave Merchant Center feed quality untouched, then wonder why shopping agents never surface their products.
Key takeaways
- SEO, GEO, AIO, AEO, and LLMO are one job measured five ways, not five separate strategies.
- Authority and entity consistency now outweigh raw backlink volume on AI search surfaces.
- Schema.org Product markup is now a commerce requirement, not an SEO nicety, agents select off it directly.
- Track AI referral traffic and AI Overview impressions separately, GA4 doesn't split them by default.
- Most of the tracking stack is free. Pay for GEO monitoring only once you have enough content volume to need cross-platform citation tracking.
What I'll do next
I'm running a Schema.org Product audit across every product page on tipidnation.com next, checking GTIN completeness specifically, since that's the single biggest gap I've found so far. I'm also adding a monthly Search Console query check for "super intelligence" and "SI" terms across all my sites, low effort, and it tells me the moment the rebrand actually starts showing up in real search behavior.
